Located between US Hwy 231 and Vaughn Rds, off Bell and Remington Roads, the former office, equestrian center and pasture land will be offered in parcels, combinations of parcels and as an entirety.

The Collier Family created Harness Hill as an equestrian destination known nationally and internationally. The equestrian center was later converted to a multi-use facility which hosted a number of non-profit events and social gatherings. The state-of-the-art spacious guest suites were converted from the former stables and have to be seen to be believed. Additionally, there is a separate residence located at the corner of Remington and Browning Roads being auctioned. Virtually every parcel being offered contains beautiful, mature hardwood, cypress, and pecan trees draped with Spanish moss.

The current zonings for this magnificent real estate are AGR-1, R-100 and R-75-s. However, a visionary buyer sees the unlimited potential uses for this truly one-of-a-kind property.

One of Montgomery’s last large properties set for May auction
MONTGOMERY -- During her years as one of Alabama’s most prominent business leaders,
June Collier Fletcher created an estate off Harness Hill Road that included a nationally known
equestrian center, offices and living quarters, and acres of pastures and woods. And on May 11,
that estate will sell at an Absolute Auction, with Granger, Thagard Auctions conducting the
“This is one of the city’s best known private properties, and at 151 acres, it’s also one of the last
few remaining large parcels in the City of Montgomery. Depending on who buys the land, and
what plans they have, this could have a major impact on the area along U.S. 231,” said Jack
Granger, president of the auction company.
The property will sell with no reserve, Absolute, in eight parcels, ranging in size from 6.4 acres
with a house to 39 acres of woods and pasture. Most improvements, including modern offices, an
equestrian center, living quarters and suites, are located on a 27-acre tract.
“We might have one bidder purchase the entire 151 acres, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we had
as many as eight buyers, because the parcels offer very different possibilities. The land could
remain as a large private estate, or parcels could be used for grazing horses or cattle. With nice
subdivisions adjacent to the property along Vaughn and Bell Road, or U.S. 231, it’s also likely to
attract the attention of developers or builders who could meet the growing demand for new
homes,” said Bill Thagard, vice president of the auction company.
The auction will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 at the property. Individuals seeking
additional information may visit or call 205-326-0833.
Granger, Thagard Auctions, based in Birmingham, is a leading auctioneer of land, homes,
recreational property and other assets throughout Alabama.

As a bidder you should know - An auction fee (buyer's premium) of 10% will be added to the highest bid to establish the final contract price. A 20% down payment (earnest money) or $15,000.00, per parcel, whichever is greater, is required from winning bidder when the hammer falls and the auctioneer says, "sold". $15,000.00, per parcel, of the down payment, (earnest money) must be in the form of a cashier's check, cash, or personal / business check with a bank letter of guarantee. Down payment (earnest money) is non-refundable if purchaser fails to close. The balance of the purchase price is due at closing within 40 days. All closing and survey costs are to be paid by the purchaser. The successful high bidder and purchaser will sign a real estate purchase agreement at the auction. In all transactions, the auctioneers of Granger, Thagard & Associates, Inc. are acting as agents (working for) of the Seller. Announcements from the auction stand take precedence over all previous oral statements and printed material. PROPERTY SELLS "AS IS - WHERE IS".
